I really love this bao idea I came up with using refrigerator biscuits, especially after trying them in Rice Village when I was taking the wine specialist courses (man, were those horrid),
and although I’ve never heard of one before, I wanted a dipping sauce to serve with them. Yes, a dipping sauce for bao. This sauce is about as simple as it gets. The flavor will also go great with egg rolls, spring rolls, potstickers chicken, pork or lo mein.
2 tsp soy sauce
½ c rice wine
3 tsp brown sugar
½ tsp fish sauce
1 tbs green onions
1 tsp crushed red pepper
Combine all of the sauce ingredients in a small sauce pot. Bring to a boil and remove from heat immediately. Stir. Transfer to a small dipping bowl and serve with your favorite appetizer. If microwaving, combine all sauce ingredients in a microwave safe bowl. Heat for 20 seconds. Stir and transfer to a dipping bowl.
